国連競争試験 ２００６年 概要

　2006年2月に行われた国連競争試験について、「人口学」で受験した方から情報を寄せていただきました。

（専門試験）
○　Essay ３つのエッセイ問題にすべて答える。
1.1.Name four most important proximate determinants of fertility that are responsible for varieties in fertility level across human populations.
1.2. What is the typical direction of change during the demographic transition for each determinant in 1.1? How does it affect fertility?
1.3. Have all these four determinants constantly contributed to the reduction of fertility over time? Give examples.

2. What are the socioeconomic consequences of ageing population in terms of labour force, intergenerational transfer, pension etc? Name 2 to 3 demographic indicators that measure the ageing.

3. Name one advantage and one disadvantage of increased international migration on development. Discuss it from the perspectives of both receiving and sending nations.

○　Short questions 8つの問題にすべて答える。
1. Answer following question using the life table presented below.
1.1. What is the probability of dying at age 25 among those who survived to age 20?
1.2. What is the probability of dying at age 30 among those who survived to age 20 to 25?
1.3. What is the probability of dying at age 30 among those who survived to age 20?
2. Calculate SMAM using the following information and formula. Define SMAM.
3. Define the following terms: Stable population, stationary population, population momentum…
4. Define TFR.
5. Calculate growth rate and doubling time given crude death rate, crude birth rate and net migration rate.
コメント：人口学のMethodの問題は Samuel Preston et al. のDemography　を7章くらいまで一通り勉強しておけば大体解ける問題でした。基本的な公式（doubling timeなど）以外、覚える必要はありません。 SMAMも公式が問題で与えられます。Methodが全部できても配点が低いので、エッセイのほうが重要です。近年の国連の出版物に目を通しておくとよいでしょう。
試験自体は長いので、飲み物、間食など用意しておくといいでしょう。試験中も持ち込みが認められます（少なくとも今年は）。
